Two journalists were among more than 40 people injured in a bombing took place in a cricket stadium in the Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of the eastern province of Nangarhar.
Three consecutive explosions rocked the stadium while a cricket march was on going, in which eight people were killed and 43 more injured, according to police and health officials.
“Qarar Azizi, head of the Radio Safa and Mobarez Atal, reporter for the channel were also injured in the bombing,” said Sher Shah Hamdard, head of the committee for journalists’ safety office in the province.
Hamdard added that the two journalists were transported along with other victims to the nearby health facilities.
He criticized the media supporting organizations for turning a blind eye to the situation of the journalists, saying that none of these bodies has yet done something in the two journalists’ treatment.
“The weather is hot in Nangarhar and we are concerned of the condition of our colleagues’ wounds, because the hot weather affects wounds and it is difficult to keep and treat them here,” said Hamdard.
He called on the government and media supporting organizations to help for the treatment of Aziz and Atal.
